The world’s largest 210‑tonne Shiva Lingam has arrived in Bihar and is set to be installed at the under‑construction Virat Ramayan Mandir on January 17, 2026, marking a historic milestone in India’s spiritual and cultural landscape. Crafted from a single block of black granite in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, the monumental lingam stands 33 feet tall and weighs an astonishing 210 metric tonnes, making it the biggest of its kind anywhere in the world. The massive stone sculpture was transported to East Champaran’s Kaithwalia village over a long and carefully planned journey, drawing attention and devotion from communities along its route. Devotees gathered at various points during the transport to offer prayers and show their reverence as the giant lingam made its way to Bihar. The installation ceremony at the Virat Ramayan Mandir, part of a larger temple complex being built by the Mahavir Mandir Trust, was conducted with traditional Vedic rituals and mantras. The event drew thousands of devotees, with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, and other leaders in attendance to witness the sacred occasion. The monumental lingam’s placement symbolizes not just religious devotion but also a celebration of India’s temple heritage and craftsmanship. Once completed, the Virat Ramayan Mandir is expected to become one of the largest Hindu temple complexes, attracting pilgrims and tourists from across the country and abroad. Har Har Mahadev!
